Who the Course is For
This is a course designed for Managers, Supervisors, personnel responsible
for fire safety and aims to equip holders to contribute to the conduct and review
of fire risk assessments and fire preventive and protective measures within most
workplaces. This is a course also designed for health & safety professionals
and managers nominated with fire safety management responsibilities and who would
like keen to develop their knowledge of fire safety and fire risk assessment fundamentals.
This course covers fire safety management documentation & how to develop fire
training packages in the workplace with the opportunity of creating a training programme
to suit your organizational needs and an understanding of fire engineering solutions.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the legal framework relating to fire and health & safety
- Appreciate the purpose and procedures of investigating fires in the workplace
- Outline the principles behind ignition and spread of fire and explosion in work premises
- Identify the causes of fire and explosion and outline appropriate control measures to minimise fire risks
- Advise on the means of fire protection and prevention of fire spread within buildings
- Advise on the development and maintenance of a fire evacuation procedure
- Use a simple fire risk assessment technique to determine risk levels and assess the adequacy of controls

- Appreciate the implications on your workplace of the Building Regulations
- Carry out access assessments for fire appliances and fire fighters
- Assess means of escape, fire alarm systems and portable fire fighting equipment provision
